Hi, I have a question about how 2 videocards can be arranged on a motherboard with 3 pci-e 2.0 slots like ASUS Striker II Extreme motherboard.That mobo manual says, at the end, to use the blue slots 1 and 3 (1 PCIE16 (#2) is white like the PCI slots). It IMPLIES any slot will do, but says those 2. Makes sense. SLI won't accept x4 operation where Crossfire will. This is your constraint because PCI-E slot 3 on your board is limited to PCI Express 3.0 x4 speed. The 3 slots will use up a max of 16x PCI Express 3.0 lanes from the CPU in either x16/0/0, x8/x8/0, or x8/x4/x4 operation modes. For SLI you are limited to the second option above.

May 29, 2009 · Actually, the new mobos run 8x-8x-8x in 3-way sli, but 16x-16x in 2 way sli.
